On
November 1st, the commencement ceremony for the first of SC Shipping’s
(Shanghai SC Shipping Co., Ltd) new 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers
was held as scheduled at Jinling-Dingheng (the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard
(Yangzhou) Dingheng Co., Ltd.).
The
event was honored with the presence of several dignitaries, including Mr. Liang
Bin, Deputy General Manager of SC Shipping; Mr. Liu Renjie, Director of the
Supervision Department of SC Shipping, Mr. Zheng Yadong, Assistant General
Manager of Jinling-Dingheng and Mr. Zhu Qikai, the Yangzhou Regional Manager of
the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
In
2022, SC Shipping placed an order with Jinling-Dingheng for the construction of
two 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers, with this event marking the commencement
of the first vessel. The ship is a product of the innovative design and development
by Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd, representing a new generation of
technically advanced, eco-friendly, high-end stainless steel chemical tankers,
and will be classed by ABS.
Mr.
Liang Bin, the Deputy General Manager of SC Shipping, stated that the new
25,900 DWT shipbuilding project is a significant initiative, illustrating SC
Shipping's resolve to optimize fleet capacity and commitment to development. He
expressed confidence in Jinling-Dingheng's ability to construct and deliver
high-quality ships efficiently. The project is expected to foster cooperation
and mutual development among all parties involved, contributing further
excellence to China’s shipbuilding industry and bolstering the nation's ambition to
become a manufacturing and transportation powerhouse, according to Liang.
Mr.
Zheng Yadong, Assistant General Manager of Jinling-Dingheng, assured that the
shipyard would embark on the construction with a meticulous and quality-first
approach, expressing hope for mutual understanding and support between the two
parties to successfully accomplish the building mission.
The
ceremonial pressing of the start button by Mr. Liang Bin and the subsequent
cutting of the first steel plate signified the official start of the
construction of SC Shipping's #1 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker.
