2026 Vessels of Safety and Honesty
YUE DAN and YU LAN were named 2026 Vessels of Safety and Honesty by MSA of the Ministry of Transport of China.
1.YUE DAN: Smart Newbuild for Greater Efficiency, Green Compliance for Sustainable Voyages
In terms of equipment management, YUE DAN has established a full-lifecycle digital management and control system. By leveraging the PMS (Planned Maintenance System) to predict equipment condition, it effectively avoids under-maintenance and over-maintenance, ensuring the stability and reliability of the vessel's propulsion, cargo, and navigation & communication systems. As a green vessel, it is equipped with an oily water separator, sewage treatment system, and ballast water treatment system, with all discharges fully compliant with MARPOL Convention and port regulations. Comprehensive multi-scenario emergency plans and frequent realistic drills also enable the crew to respond calmly and efficiently in case of emergencies.
2.YU LAN: Meticulous
Management of the Mature Vessel Secures Safety through Long-Term Control
If YUE DAN is a benchmark for safe operation of modern intelligent newbuilds, then YU LAN stands as a model of refined intelligent upgrade for a mature vessel. Delivered in 2006, this chemical/oil tanker has been plying the coastal waters of China and the Southeast Asia routes year-round. Over the past three years, it has maintained an exceptional safety record of zero casualties, zero safety incidents, zero pollution accidents, and zero major hazards.
YU LAN has established digital electronic files for all onboard equipment. The system automatically generates maintenance work orders based on running hours and has set up dedicated monitoring modules for recurring issues such as hull corrosion and valve aging. Over the past three years, leveraging intelligent early warnings, the vessel has completed major overhauls of 8 key equipment items and replaced more than 20 components ahead of schedule, marking a transition from corrective maintenance to preventive maintenance. Cargo safety management has also achieved a full-process digital closed loop — pre-loading pressure test data is uploaded simultaneously, cargo tank temperature and pressure are monitored 24/7 during voyages, post-discharge tank cleaning inspections are archived online, and environmental treatment is automatically documented throughout the process. Such meticulous management has secured a solid safety foundation for the mature operations of YU LAN.
2026 Captains of Safety and Honesty
Captain YUAN Shuhong and Captain HU Zilong were named 2026 Captains of Safety and Honesty by MSA of the Ministry of Transport of China.
"Since assuming the role of Captain in 2014, I have always upheld the principle of 'Safety First' and diligently fulfilled my duties."
Captain YUAN has successively commanded multiple oil and chemical tankers operating along key routes in China's coastal waters and Southeast Asia. To date, he has maintained a record of zero safety liability accidents and was honored as a "Senior Captain for China Near-Sea Routes" by the company in July 2024.
In the face of the complex risks inherent in hazardous chemical transportation, he actively leverages the digital ship-shore integration system and conducts pre-voyage planning via electronic charts and an intelligent hydro-meteorological platform. The platform automatically integrates data on tides, currents, fishing vessel distribution, and visibility along the route, intelligently generating alternative routes and marking high-risk waypoints—completely replacing the outdated practice of manual chart consultation. When navigating the complex restricted waterways from Shanghai to Nanjing in the Yangtze River, he employs intelligent self-piloting and self-berthing operations using the digital channel database, significantly reducing operational risks in confined waters. Over the past three years, under his leadership, vessel navigation and cargo operations have remained smooth and orderly, with zero safety or pollution liability incidents.
2.Captain HU Zilong: Navigating with Expertise, Upholding Maritime Safety

In July 2025, Captain HU was recognized as a "Senior Captain for China Near-Sea Routes" by the company. Having long been responsible for domestic coastal chemical transportation in China, he stays current with frequently updated regulations and rigorous loading/discharging standards. Captain HU relies on a dynamic compliance database embedded in the integrated ship-shore digital management platform, which syncs real-time updates on port-specific requirements and pollution prevention regulations across different countries; for port state inspections, the database can retrieve a full set of digital records with one click, ensuring smooth clearance. In vessel management, Captain HU utilizes the online assessment and training system to manage his crew, while the shore-based platform provides remote technical support, enabling online diagnostics for equipment faults. From loading to delivery at the discharge port, cargo tank pressure, temperature, and pipeline sealing are monitored digitally throughout the entire process—securing both safety and integrity through digital controls.
