From June 22 to July 3, 2026, Shanghai SC Shipping held this year’s second cadet pre-embarkation training session at Zhenjiang Lantian Vocational and Technical School. The 12-day program covered career planning, safety awareness, internal and external inspections, common orders, onboard communication, and outdoor team-building activities. It helped graduates transition from campus to seafaring, close skill gaps, strengthen safety awareness, and embrace the company's core values: Embrace Progress, Strive for Excellence.
Forty-eight fresh graduates, with their maritime dreams set high, are now ready to step aboard and embark on a new chapter of their careers.
On the 25th National Work Safety Month, Mr. Zhang from the Crew Management Division of Zhenjiang Maritime Safety Administration made a special visit to the training site and delivered a thought-provoking session on accident case studies, echoing the theme of 2026 National Work Safety Month. With safety awareness consistently placed at the forefront, the company made the session the first lesson for the cadets before they step aboard.
Mr. Zhang selected nine typical accidents and dangerous cases from the shipping industry in recent years, covering high-risk scenarios such as ship collisions, equipment failures, fire and explosion, capsizing, man overboard, and merchant-and-fishing vessel collisions. Instead of plain lecturing, he walked the students through a clear logic of "what happened — why it happened — how to prevent it", turning complex maritime rules and regulations into straightforward, actionable guidance.
Even more striking were the video reconstructions and 3D animation simulations presented during the session. Watching collisions caused by lookout failures or fires sparked by unsafe practices, the participants felt as if they were on the spot. Such an immersive experience helped each cadet develop a clear awareness of the high cost of violations and the heavy responsibility of safe performance at sea.
After the Work Safety Month training, the cadets described the experience as truly unforgettable — it was more than just a dissemination of safety knowledge but a profound lesson that instilled in them a deep respect for life, for regulations, and for their professional responsibilities.
Safety is the cornerstone of shipping and the bottom line of every seafarer's career. SC Shipping has always woven "Safety First" into every stage of seafarer cultivation. This collaborative safety awareness initiative, jointly organized by the government, the company, and the school, has fastened the first button of safety awareness for these 48 young cadets as they prepare to set sail on their careers.
