SC Shipping’s BAI YANG Successfully Rescued Fishing Vessel "LIAO SUI FISHING 01200"

Date:2024-10-16

On the evening of October 16th, 2024, while BAI YANG was sailing from Ningbo to Jinzhou, it received a distress call via the AIS system from the vessel "LIAO SUI FISHING 01200", reporting water ingress and equipment failure. Captain LIANG Xuchuang immediately reported the situation to the company. After receiving the instruction from the executive LI Xianmeng to "spare no effort and proceed with the rescue immediately," he swiftly altered course towards the Bohai Strait and simultaneously reported the emergency to the VTS in Yantai and Dalian.

Upon the rendezvous, it was confirmed that the distressed vessel was actually the wooden fishing boat "LIAO SUI FISHING 01200," with four crew members on board. Due to a steering gear malfunction, the boat was unable to navigate and had sent out a distress signal. BAI YANG actively engaged in the rescue operation. After learning that the fishing boat intended to repair itself while being towed, BAI YANG meticulously followed operational protocols to establish a secure towline connection between the two vessels and reported the situation to the maritime authorities in Yantai and Dalian, ensuring the entire rescue process was safe and compliant. Meanwhile, BAI YANG remained on standby to assist with the repairs. Once the fishing boat's steering gear was repaired and its safe navigation was confirmed, with the consent of the maritime authorities in Yantai and Dalian, BAI YANG released the towline and resumed its normal route.

This rescue operation, from receiving the distress signal to the successful and safe rescue, took only a few hours. It demonstrated the company's commitment to "valuing life above all" and BAI YANG's emergency response capabilities. Through efficient collaboration between the company and the crew, the lives and property of the fishermen were successfully safeguarded, showcasing the company's social responsibility and mission in maritime emergency rescue.
