On April 23rd, a grand naming and delivery ceremony was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu, for the first of SC Shipping’s new series of 11,300 DWT chemical tankers. The event was attended by distinguished guests including Wu Guirong, Executive Deputy General Manager of Gentco Logistics and General Manager of SC Shipping; Zang Yingui, Deputy General Manager of SC Shipping; Wang Bo, General Manager of Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (Chuandong Shipbuilding), along with his deputy, Chen Guang; Ding Zejuan (Silvia), President of Maersk Greater China; Tu Jianchuan, Manager of the Chongqing branch of the China Classification Society (CCS), along with Heng Lin, Deputy Manager of the Jiangsu branch; and Liang Zongqing, General Manager of Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., accompanied by his Deputy Manager, Guan Fengwu.
During the
ceremony, Wu Guirong expressed gratitude towards all parties involved in the
construction of the vessel and reflected on the long-standing collaboration
between SC Shipping and Chuandong Shipbuilding. He highlighted that the early
delivery of this new vessel was a testament to the collective efforts of all
involved. Despite the challenges in the current market, SC Shipping remains
confident and hopeful, looking forward to contributing to the strength of the shipping
industry and creating value for society and the enterprise through its
operational and managerial expertise in the chemical shipping market.
Mr. Wang then
highlighted the enduring partnership between SC Shipping and Chuandong
Shipbuilding, noting that their joint efforts have led to the early and
successful delivery of the 11,300 DWT chemical tanker. He pledged that
Chuandong Shipbuilding will maintain its diligent work ethic, guided by the
corporate spirit of "unity, pioneering, self-confidence, and relentless
self-improvement," to ensure the quality and timely delivery of subsequent
vessels.
Madam Ding
Zejuan, the president of Greater China at Maersk, performed the christening by
breaking a sacrificial bottle of champagne over the bow of the new vessel “Dong Bai.” She extended her best
wishes to the vessel, hoping it would demonstrate the resilience of evergreen
cypress trees, steadfastly navigating through any storm.
"DONG
BAI" is the first 11,300 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker ordered by SC
Shipping from Chuandong Shipbuilding. Since the contract signing in August
2022, both parties have overcome challenges posed by the pandemic and the tight
supply of stainless steel, actively advancing the project. The early delivery
of “Dong Bai” marks
a perfect milestone in their twenty-year collaboration and sets a solid
foundation for the smooth delivery of the second vessel.
