On January 9th, the launching ceremony for the second of SC Shipping’s new 11,300 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers was grandly held at Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC).In attendance at the ceremony were Zang Yingui, Deputy General Manager of SC Shipping, Liu Renjie, Director of the Supervision Department at SC Shipping, Wang Bo, General Manager of Chuandong Shipbuilding, Chen Guang and Ye Nian, Deputy General Managers of Chuandong Shipbuilding, Ling Zhixiang, Director of the Fuling Office of the China Classification Society (CCS), and Guan Fengwu, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.
This 11,300 DWT chemical tanker project marks a renewed collaboration between SC Shipping and Chuandong Shipbuilding after a 12-year hiatus, with this launch representing the second of two vessels in the series. Classed by CCS, these duplex stainless steel chemical tankers were developed by Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering, embodying high efficiency, energy conservation, safety, and environmental stewardship for unrestricted global voyages.
Addressing the occasion, Zang Yingui, Deputy General Manager of SC Shipping, extended heartfelt gratitude to the entire team of Chuandong Shipbuilding, CCS, the design institute, and SC Shipping's on-site supervisory personnel. He also underscored that this successful launching was a testament to the unwavering commitment and seamless cooperation between the two companies. "Both vessels have smoothly hit the water, reaching advanced stages of completion. SC Shipping eagerly anticipates the timely delivery of these newbuilds in 2024," said Zang.
In his speech, Wang Bo, General Manager of Chuandong Shipbuilding, affirmed the yard's resolute dedication to upholding and championing its corporate ethos of "Unity, Exploration, Self-Confidence, Self-Reliance, and Incessant Strength." He then further highlighted the shipyard's efforts in reinforcing organizational prowess and seizing production opportunities to ensure the high-quality, on-schedule delivery of this second vessel.
