On December 17th, 2025, WU Guirong, Executive Deputy General Manager of Gentco Logistics and General Manager of SC Shipping, led a delegation to pay a visit to LI Hongbing, Deputy Director of Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration (SMSA). The two parties conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as ship safety management, implementation of shipping companies' primary responsibility for workplace safety, crew training, and crew team building.
WU Guirong expressed gratitude to SMSA for its long-term care and support to SC Shipping, and briefly outlined the company's profile, recent progress in fleet expansion and aging vessel renewal, as well as its future development plans. He emphasized that the company has always prioritized the safe operation and management of ships, and has conducted in-depth research, rolled out targeted implementation, and made systematic arrangements in response to the Guidelines for Shipping Enterprises on Fulfilling Primary Responsibility for Workplace Safety (Version 1.0) issued by the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport. During the discussion, he also fully shared the company's current challenges and difficulties. In addition, WU updated on the company's advancements in informatization development, fleet management capability enhancement, and intrinsic safety management, and highlighted the ongoing crew training center project. Built on a chemical tanker cargo simulation operation system, this project aims to further improve the crew's practical operational skills and safety training standards.
LI Hongbing extended a warm welcome to WU Guirong and his delegation, and fully affirmed SC Shipping's contributions to proactively phasing out the aging oil and chemical fleet structure and targeted improvement of informatization and intelligent intrinsic safety management capabilities of ships. He also shared SMSA's recent management priorities and policy orientation as a regulatory and service authority for shipping companies. Regarding the current shipping safety situation, he stated that he hopes both parties will continuously innovate management and cooperation methods, and carry out in-depth exchanges in areas such as the waterborne transport of liquid dangerous chemicals, the fulfillment of primary responsibility for workplace safety, and the upgrading of fleet safety management. SMSA will also provide support and policy guidance for SC Shipping in establishing its chemical tanker crew training center, and work hand in hand with SC Shipping to safeguard voyages far and wide, jointly protecting the "lifeline" of waterborne shipping safety.
