Date:2025-05-07

On May 7th, 2025, the naming and delivery ceremony for SC Shipping's second 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker built by Yangzhou Dingheng Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. of China Merchants Industry Holdings Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Yangzhou Jinling") was grandly held in Yangzhou .

WU Guirong, Executive Deputy General Manager of Gentco Logistics and General Manager of SC Shipping, XIONG Dengpan, General Manager of Yangzhou Jinling, DU Minyi, the ship's godmother, SONG Aimin, General Manager of the Central China Branch of the American Bureau of Shipping, LIANG Zongqing, Chairman of Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. and a great number of domestic and international industry representatives and partners gathered at the ceremony to witness this significant moment.

In his address, WU Guirong, Executive Deputy General Manager of Gentco Logistics and General Manager of SC Shipping, reviewed the journey from contract signing to delivery. He emphasized that this delivery marks a crucial step for SC Shipping in optimizing its fleet structure and expanding into global markets. He noted that SC Shipping has ordered a total of 12 ships of the 25,900 DWT series stainless steel chemical tankers from Yangzhou Jinling. The delivery of the second ship just three and a half months after the first one highlights the foresight and correctness of SC Shipping's decision to partner with Yangzhou Jinling. It also signifies the ongoing elevation of their cooperation. Looking ahead, SC Shipping will leverage its global operational capabilities to work hand in hand with Yangzhou Jinling, striving to provide more high-quality logistics services to global petrochemical customers.

XIONG Dengpan, General Manager of Yangzhou Jinling, also stressed that as a global leader in building small and medium-sized chemical ships, Yangzhou Jinling has delivered 113 high-end liquid cargo ships and has 59 orders on hand. He pointed out that SC Shipping's market position as a top domestic and internationally leading chemical ship owner aligns perfectly with Yangzhou Jinling's market strategy of focusing on "small and medium-sized chemical and liquefied gas ship construction." The initial cooperation between the two parties has resulted in an order of 12 ships. Moving forward, they will deepen collaboration in areas such as mitigating geopolitical risks and expanding into international markets. Together, they will demonstrate the competitiveness of "Chinese shipbuilding and shipping," effectively addressing the uncertainties in the global shipping and economic environment.

As the ship's godmother, Ms. DU Minyi named the new ship SC Citrine. The name "Citrine," inspired by the yellow quartz gemstone, symbolizes wealth, vitality, and illumination. It conveys the vision of the ship carrying prosperous trade and sailing energy. During the solemn ceremonial ship christening with champagne, as the champagne bottle shattered against the ship's bow, the golden liquid, mingled with crystal-clear foam, surged out. This traditional ritual not only uses the sound of "shattering" to represent "years" (homophones pronounced as "sui" in Chinese), echoing the maritime culture's wish for safety every year, but also uses the rich aroma of champagne to dispel misfortune, infusing the ship with ancient blessings of warding off evil and welcoming good fortune. It is also a modern tribute to SC Citrine as it braves the waves and returns fully loaded in the future.

Representatives from the American Bureau of Shipping and Odely Design Institute also delivered speeches, acknowledging the technical breakthroughs and quality control during the project's construction phase and emphasizing that multi-party collaboration was key to the project's success.

As the prototype of high-end 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers in the market, the vessel in this project features a duplex stainless steel cargo hold and meets Tier III emission standards. It is a "flagship product" of Yangzhou Jinling and a "star ship type" for SC Shipping in the global shipping market. Renowned for its exceptional versatility, the vessel can transport a diverse range of cargoes, including conventional refined oil and high-risk chemicals. It is capable of carrying over 90% of the world's oil and chemical product types. Its tonnage also meets the needs of both long-haul and regional feeder trades. The innovative low-fuel-consumption power system, combined with optimized hull lines, demonstrates significant market competitiveness in the trend of green shipping.

With the smooth delivery of the first vessel and the consecutive delivery of the second one, the construction plans for the remaining 10 sister ships are progressing as scheduled. Both parties stated that, starting with this cooperation and upon the background of developing new quality productive forces, they will continue to deepen strategic collaboration. Together, they will address challenges in the international shipping market and inject new vitality into the global chemical logistics industry chain.

The ceremony concluded perfectly with the guests' group photos and ship tours, symbolizing that both parties will use the "first win" of the first stage of the 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker series as an opportunity to jointly write more glorious chapters.
