On September 10, the naming and delivery ceremony of the third 25,900 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker built by CSSC Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd (referred to as “CSSC Wuchang Shipbuilding”) for SC Shipping was grandly held in Jingjiang, Jiangsu Province.
Distinguished guests gathered in Jingjiang to witness this momentous occasion, including Mr. ZANG Yingui, Deputy General Manager of SC Shipping; Mr. ZOU Guangqing, Assistant to the General Manager and Director of the Production Management Department of CSSC Wuchang Shipbuilding; Ms. GENG Yangyang, the ship's godmother; Mr. LI Chen, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.; and Mr. LIANG Xueqian, Project Manager of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Nanjing Office stationed at CSSC Wuchang Shipbuilding; along with representatives of Gentco Logistics 2025 Outstanding Individuals.
In the solemn ship christening ceremony, Ms. GENG Yangyang named the new vessel SC HESSONITE. She explained that “HESSONITE” refers to a variety of grossular garnet, whose stable properties and warm, rich luster resemble SC Shipping's steady foundation built through years of dedication to the industry, aligning with the company's core pursuit of safe operation and long-term development. She offered her sincere blessings for the vessel: May she carry the qualities of hessonite, riding the waves with composure and safeguarding every voyage with safety and peace; may she carry cargo across the world, creating steady value and gaining long-term trust of global clients with her professionalism and reliability.
In the golden autumn of Jingjiang, with fair winds and full sails, SC HESSONITE has officially weighed anchor and entered service, joining SC Shipping's 25,900 DWT fleet. As the third vessel of this type delivered through the cooperation with CSSC Wuchang Shipbuilding, her commissioning will further strengthen SC Shipping's capacity in liquid chemical transportation, providing global clients with safer, more reliable logistics support.
